Sullivan's Room with Portola Paints

My favorite room in our home is Sullivan’s, which doubles as our closets. I feel such pride in this room because it is so highly functional per square foot. If every room was this functional per square foot, we would require a lot less living space. This idea and approach to homemaking inspires me deeply. We have created a big-impact room in a small-footprint area.

While this space serves many purposes, we want it to ultimately feel like Sullivan’s bedroom, more than anything. We treat it as his bedroom—his place of rest and recharge—that happens to house our clothing. We name it as such, decorate it as such, and take care of it as such.

It is a dream to partner with Portola Paints to create an even more Sullivan-driven space. We recently added the perfect touch of earthy blue and a small dose of independence, his toddler bed.

We used Portola Paints’ Roman Clay in Lisbon to create an accent wall, just what his room needed to feel exciting, safe, and more Sullivan.

The completion of Sullivan’s room is, as always, due to a team effort. My partnership with Portola Paints was made possible by Elise Joseph, a dear friend and creative consultant. Lydia Plageman of Lydia Plageman Design, another dear friend and colleague, helped choose Roman Clay in Lisbon, as well as the details of Sullivan’s bedding.
