Nice, France

Growing up, my parents told my sisters and me, “You will be so close one day,” as we bickered over clothing, fair seating in the car, or the day’s planned activities. Although we did not believe them at the time, they were absolutely right. My two sisters, Sarah and Amy, and I have grown up to be inseparable in adulthood. We are intimately, constantly in touch with one another about our relationships, careers, motherhood journeys, and more.

For years, Sarah, Amy, and I have dreamt of traveling together. Our trips, thus far, have always included our families, especially as they’ve grown. This year, Amy and her family planned a trip to Paris, France, and Sarah and I thought, “Perhaps we can plan a sisters’ trip in conjunction with Amy’s family’s trip.” Several texts, calls, and hours of research later, our vision came to fruition.

Sarah and I flew from Nashville, Tennessee to Nice, France to spend three days in Côte d'Azur before traveling by train to Paris to meet Amy and her family. We overlapped with Amy and her family for two days in Paris before they culminated their time in the City of Light and subsequently ventured to Zurich, Switzerland. Surprisingly, this was our first official sisters’ trip, but it will most certainly not be the last.

Below you will find imagery of Sarah’s and my time in Nice, France, as well as our experience-based recommendations. We spent roughly 48 hours in Nice before traveling to our second stop, Saint-Raphaël, to enjoy one night at Les Roches Rouge. A full blog post highlighting our time at Les Roches Rouge is coming soon, as well as full blog posts dedicated to Paris and overall travel tips, including logistical and budgeting insights.

Recommended Eats

Le Plongeoir | Reservations fill up very quickly. Sarah and I did not have a reservation, so we arrived at opening and were able to be seated. As you may expect, this is a popular destination because of its unique, photography-worthy setting. This photo was taken at Le Plongeoir. View more on Instagram here.

Castel Plage | Sarah and I walked to Castel Plage from Hôtel du Couvent for late, relaxed lunch. Next time, we will be sure to pack our bathing suits, as guests can seamlessly enjoy the beach while there.

Recommended Stay

Hôtel du Couvent | Nestled in Old Town, Nice, Hôtel du Couvent was once a 17th-century convent, now restored, welcoming, and full of gardens, views of the city, and open air. We had to force (force!) ourselves to leave this property to explore. The Roman baths are not to be missed. We booked our stay through Marriott using accumulated points. Recommended Sites

Colline du Château | Upon arriving in Nice, Sarah and I hiked Colline du Château to attempt to overcome our jet lag. Be sure to pack water and snacks, and wear comfortable shoes. This photo, this photo, and this photo were taken on this hike. View more on Instagram here.

Villa Kérylos | This was a major highlight of our time in Nice. A full blog post dedicated to Villa Kérylos is coming soon.
